Applications are invited from suitably qualified professionals for the position of Librarian, Talent Development, Talent Management Department, Human Resources Division. Reporting to the Senior Librarian, the successful candidate, will be responsible for:

  1. Participating in the process for the development of policies and procedures to guide the operations of the library.
  2. Assisting the Senior Librarian in identifying and recommending the most appropriate technology for use in the delivery of Library services and promoting its use among users.
  3. Implementing procedures for processing all library materials.
  4. Recommending the adoption of bibliographic maintenance standards and authorities in an automated environment.
  5. Performing a variety of specialized technical functions such as cataloguing, classifying, accessioning, abstracting, indexing and processing of library materials for easy access and retrieval.
  6. Assisting with the conducting of selective strategic dissemination of information by identifying topics in current literature of interest to the Bank’s staff for retrieval from a centralized electronic database.
  7. Analyzing material and providing descriptors for precise retrieval.
  8. Sustaining the integrity of the databases by executing the prescribed maintenance activities.
  9. Participating in digital preservation of the physical materials in the collection.
  10. Sourcing materials to facilitate research as well as interpreting the needs of users, answering queries and providing general information.
  11. Contributing to the Quarterly Bulletin of the Records Management Centre.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Library and Information studies or any related discipline with three years' experience.
OR
  • Certificate or Diploma in Library and Information Studies or any related discipline with four years’ experience.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

The incumbent should have:

  • Demonstrated mastery of all the technical aspects of the position including classifying and cataloguing.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication, planning, organizing, research and investigation.
  • The ability to win the cooperation of others.
  • Sound knowledge of legislation which impacts library management and professional associations.
  • Sound understanding of the Bank’s role, systems and procedures and the implications for the functioning of the Library.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB

The incumbent will be:

  • Work is executed in a modern and typical office environment.
  • Requires a fair degree of walking and exposure to dust in storage areas.
